In the light of that experience, the government has decided to tie the knot on mobile internet this time. BTRC chairman Shyam Sundar Sikder told the media at noon on Wednesday (February 23). The new rate will be announced soon. At present, Grameenphone subscribers can buy 4 GB of data for a period of 3 days at a cost of Tk.
The cost of a Banglalink customer to buy the same amount of data in the same period is 74 rupees. There will be no difference if the new decision is effective. We are working on setting a similar tariff for mobile broadband, one country one rate on broadband. We had to hold 48 meetings with our stakeholders to fix the fixed broadband rate. Similarly, we are having meetings with mobile operators. We will be able to fix the tariff for mobile bandwidth very soon. Then there will be no problem.BTRC has launched the ‘One Rate’ service on broadband internet from September 1. Customers will get 5 Mbps at Tk 500, 10 Mbps at 800 and 20 Mbps at Tk 1,200 as the retail price.
