The application of teachers and students to get the grant money started on Tuesday
Initiatives have been taken to distribute special grants in the revenue budget for 2021-2022 among various schools, colleges, teachers, and students. The money will be provided by the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education and the Technical and Madrasa Education Department. Various schools, colleges, madrasas, technical education institutions, students, and teachers will start applying online from next Tuesday (February 1) to receive this money. You have to apply by February 28 to get the special grant money.
Separate notifications have been issued by the Department of Secondary and Higher Education and the Department of Technical and Madrasa Education. In 2021-2022, a policy has already been issued (revised policy to be followed for providing grants to educational institutions, teachers-staff, and students-2020) to distribute special grants among teachers and students of various educational institutions.
According to this policy, teachers and students have to apply for special grant money. Students of public and private MPO and non-MPO educational institutions can apply for special grants for the treatment of incurable diseases, accidents, and medical expenses. In this case students of disabled, helpless, indigent, and meritorious, the backward community will get priority.
In addition, special grants can be applied for repairs and renovations of all recognized or MPO registered private educational institutions in the country, manufacture of furniture, purchase of sports equipment, library development, and making the institution student-friendly. However, in the case of selection, indigent educational institutions of backward areas will get priority. And teachers and staff of private schools, colleges, madrasas, or technical education institutions can apply for permission for incurable diseases or accidents.
To receive the grant money, the headmaster, teacher-staff, or students of different schools and colleges have to apply online from the website of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education (www.shed.gov.bd) between 1st February and 18th February. Students are asked to apply online by clicking on the ‘Educational Institutions, Teachers-Employees, and Students Financial Grants Application Form’ button.
In the case of school-college students to get the grant, the head of the institution and the university students have to attach the certificate of the head of the department in the application. In case of application in the teacher-employee category, one has to apply by attaching a medical certificate and proof of the accident. And in case of an application for a grant for an educational institution, the certification of the managing committee has to be attached.
The money allocated for the grant of teachers-staff and students will be sent through the financial service ‘Cash’ of the Digital Postal Department of Dhaka Division. In the case of educational institutions, the allocated money will be sent to the bank account. The ministry further said that students, teachers, staff, and educational institutions who have received grants in 2020-21 will not be considered for grants in the current financial year.
Meanwhile, the Department of Technical and Madrasa Education has informed that the Heads of Madrasa and Technical Educational Institutions, teachers-students, and students can enter the website of the department (www.tmed.gov.bd) and click on ‘Application Form for Financial Grants for Educational Institutions, Teachers-Staff, and Students’. You need to apply for a grant online. No application will be accepted in hard copy.
