14 new schools are to be built in Dhaka. The government has taken initiative to build 14 new schools with modern facilities in the capital. It will have all kinds of measures to attract children. These schools will have an indoor games room, waiting room for parents, and washroom suitable for children. The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has taken initiative to build new schools under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
These schools will be constructed by the Department of Local Government Engineering (LGED) under the Department of Primary Education. Each building will have a separate design. Three of the schools will be constructed in Uttara and the remaining 11 in Purbachal. At the same time, beautiful new buildings will be constructed in 342 government primary schools in 12 police station areas. In order to attract children at the primary level, 14 new schools will be constructed in the capital under the direction of the Prime Minister. Children are not being attracted as the primary schools in Dhaka are not beautiful. For this reason, children of upper and middle-class families are not interested in reading.
The new buildings will be in 342 primary schools in the capital. Each design will be unique. We have approved new architectural designs for 20-25 schools in Dhaka. Tenders have already been called for two schools. The foundation stone will be laid soon. All school buildings will have indoor games rooms and sheds for parents to rest.
Mizanur Rahman, director and project director (joint secretary) of the Department of Primary Education, said, “It will cost Tk 1,159.20 crore to construct the school’s beautiful buildings.” These schools will be established by 2024. He said that these buildings will be constructed with government funds. The project director said that apart from the new building, 2,985 rooms out of 154 in 342 school buildings will be rebuilt. And 1,018 out of 16 will be beautified with infrastructural development.
