A new Mujibnagar University is being set up in Meherpur

A new Mujibnagar University is being set up in Meherpur. There is a new public university in Meherpur. For this purpose, the Cabinet has given in-principle approval to the draft of ‘Mujibnagar University, Meherpur Act, 2022’. The draft law was approved at a cabinet meeting on Monday (March 28). Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said this at a briefing at the Secretariat after the meeting. Regular cabinet meetings are held at the Prime Minister’s Office. It was presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The government is going to set up this university as part of setting up one public university in every district of the country. Earlier this month, a draft law to set up the university was drafted and sent to the cabinet. The draft was sent signed by the secretary of the ministry of education. To set up Mujibnagar University on September 22, 2021, the then Secretary of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education of the Ministry of Education Md. An inter-ministerial meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mahbub Hossain. The meeting was told that the university would be set up in line with the laws of other universities.
