The entire syllabus of the university admission test will be taken. University admission tests will be taken in the entire syllabus. The convener of the technical committee on admissions to cluster public universities (2020-21) says that the syllabus of HSC and equivalent students should not be considered in the admission test. However, Education Minister Dipu Moni has repeatedly said to take the admission tests in a short syllabus. University admission tests should be in the whole syllabus. Because the authorities will have to face many difficulties in preparing the question papers to take the exam in a short syllabus. There is a fear that the meritorious will be left out. Students will not be able to understand many subjects at the university level if they do not master the entire syllabus of higher secondary.
Although the public universities have not yet made a final decision on the admission test, most of them are in favor of taking the test in the entire syllabus. AKM Ahsan Habib said that in case of admission of students in medical and dental colleges, examinations will be taken in the entire syllabus. The decision was taken at a recent meeting with stakeholders on admission tests, including the Ministry of Health, Department of Health, and BMDC.
He said that when the issue of the re-arranged syllabus was discussed in the meeting, they agreed to take the examination in the whole syllabus as before. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Akhtaruzzaman said that there is no syllabus prescribed for admission tests at Dhaka University. Examinations are usually based on the curriculum that students follow. Faculty diners will decide on what basis the question paper will be prepared.
Regarding the admission in GST cluster public universities (convener of the technical committee in 2020-21 and vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, Prof. Dr. Munaj Ahmed Noor said that more students take part in the admission test than the allotted seats in the universities. The process of exclusion should not be taken into consideration as the syllabus of HSC and equivalent students should be considered. The university authorities will conduct the examination on their own.
