Health check-up through small doctors at school begins on March 27. From March 26 to April 2, students will be examined by micro doctors in all schools. For this, a team of junior doctors will be formed in the educational institutions. A team of junior doctors will examine the students’ weight, height, and vision and notice abnormal physical growth and vision defects. In addition, children aged 12 to 18 years, school-going and out-of-school children will be brought to the educational institution and given deworming.
Although the health examination of the students was scheduled to be conducted by the micro-doctors in all the educational institutions from January 22 to 26, it was postponed due to the increase in the transmission of coronavirus. At a recent meeting of the technical committee held at the Department of Health, it was decided to run this program from March 26 to April 2. A letter has been sent from the Department of Secondary and Higher Education informing the field education officers, heads of secondary schools, and teachers. The letter was released by the Department of Education on Monday.
At a meeting of the technical committee held at the Department of Health on March 2, it was decided to observe the National Deworming Week from March 20 and the ‘Health Examination of Students by Small Doctor’ program, which was postponed due to the rise of micro-infections, from March 26 to April 2. All children including school-going and out-of-school children aged 12-18 years, working children, school dropouts will be given one dose of deworming medicine (Mebendazole-500 mg) by attending the educational institution.
In addition, the health examination program conducted by the junior doctor will be conducted only for students aged 12-16 years or from class VI to class X or equivalent. Therefore, it has been directed to co-operate with every secondary level educational institution, District Education Officer, and Upazila Secondary Education Officer for the successful implementation of National Deworming Week and Health Work of the students at the scheduled time.
