Classroom teaching begins today. After being closed for 33 consecutive days in the second phase, classes in all secondary, higher secondary educational institutions and universities in the country will begin on Tuesday (February 22). These educational institutions were closed since January 20 due to the issue of the new variant of Corona, Omikron. Even if these educational institutions are open, not all the students will be able to take classes in person right now. Only those who have received the second dose of the vaccine can be present in the classroom. The rest will attend classes online. In this phase, secondary, higher secondary and higher education institutions are opening. Primary schools will open from March 2, but classes in pre-primary are not yet held.
The government imposed 11-point restrictions from January 13 due to the increase in corona infections. On January 21, the cabinet department issued a fresh five-point directive, including the closure of educational institutions. Educational institutions were ordered to remain closed until February 6. After that, the government decided to extend the educational institution by two more weeks. Last Thursday (February 17), Education Minister Dr. Deepu Mani said that from February 22, classroom teaching will start at secondary, higher secondary, and university levels. Primary schools will open on March 2.
Earlier, educational institutions in the country were closed from March 17, 2020, to September 11, 2021, for the same reason. After that, on September 12, when the educational institutions were opened, the class education program was started in a limited way. During this period, the 2022 SSC-HSC examination was held by reducing the subject and time. Even if the educational institutions open from today, there are many restrictions to be followed. The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (Maushi) of the Ministry of Education has issued 20 instructions.
