It has been decided to retain the ‘D’ unit of Dhaka University. After the discussion and criticism over the cancellation of the ‘D’ unit of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Dhaka University (DU), it was decided at the meeting of the deans’ committee of the university to retain it for the time being. The decision was taken unanimously at a special meeting of the Deans’ Committee at the lounge adjacent to the university’s vice-chancellor’s office on Wednesday (February 16).

After the meeting, The Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Zia Rahman confirmed this information to the media. In this regard, Prof. Zia Rahman said that since the decision not to have the ‘D’ unit has been taken, a meeting of the Deans’ Sub Committee was held on the 13th and 14th to formulate the policy of changing the category of the students. There I gave a note of dissent so that there should be a ‘D’ unit.

The Dean of the Faculty of Law also gave a note of dissent so that law should be included along with the arts and social sciences. He said the recommendations of the Deans Sub-Committee have been discussed and reviewed in today’s Deans’ Committee. The note of dissent of the Dean of the Faculty of Law was accepted at the meeting. And as for my dissent, it has been said that there will be a ‘D’ unit this year. Changes will be made in the process that can be changed in the future.
