Admission test of four units of Dhaka University has started
The admission test of four units of Dhaka University has started. The admission test will be held in four reorganized units of Dhaka University from 2022-to 2023. However, as the students have started preparing for 5 units this year, the final decision has been taken to maintain the ‘D’ unit as before. The decision was taken at a special meeting of the General Admissions Committee held at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate building in the afternoon in the light of the recommendations of a special meeting of the Deans Committee of the University held on Wednesday (February 18) morning. University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Akhtaruzzaman presided over the meeting.
According to a press release issued by the university at the end of the meeting, the results of the Higher Secondary Examination of the students admitted in the 1st year undergraduate (honors) class in 2021-2022 have already been published. As the students are mentally preparing to participate in the admission test in the existing 5 units as before, it has been decided to maintain the ‘D’ unit in the admission test in Dhaka University this year. As a result, the admission tests will be held in these 5 units ‘A, B, C, D, and F’ in this academic year.
In the light of the decision of the special meeting of the previous general admission committee (08 February 2022), the admission test for the 1st year undergraduate (honors) class from the next 2022-2023 academic year will be held through 4 reorganized units. The 04 reorganized units of the admission test are (1) Arts, Law and Social Sciences Unit (2) Science Unit (3) Business Education Unit, and (4) Fine Arts Unit. There will be an opportunity to participate in the admission test in the law and social science unit.
In addition, students in the humanities will be able to take exams in mathematics/statistics or economics/accounting science or any of the prerequisites along with the admission test in the ‘Arts, Law and Social Sciences’ unit for admission in science or commerce. The meeting advised the deans to think about the admission of students to the university through a single standardized test in the future like the universities of the developed world to save time, labor, and money.
