UGC wants to launch a loan program for higher education উচ্চশিক্ষায় ঋণ কর্মসূচি চালু চায় ইউজিসি। The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recommended the introduction of a loan program for the higher education of the underprivileged students of the universities of the country like the developed world. In many countries of the developed world, there are rules for giving education loans to university students and then repaying them after entering the career or in any other way. The commission has recommended the government take initiative to introduce this facility for the students of the country’s universities.
This recommendation has been made in the latest annual report of the UGC. The report was published by The President on Thursday. It has been submitted to Abdul Hamid. The commission has made a total of 17 recommendations.
Regarding the introduction of education loans for students, the commission’s recommendation states that in the developed world, there are rules and methods of giving education loans to students while studying in universities and later repaying it after entering a career or in any other way. In that light, the government can take the initiatives to launch an education loan program for students by forming an endowment fund to provide financial assistance to underprivileged students studying in the universities of Bangladesh.
