Madan Mohan College (also known as MMC) is a leading and traditional educational institution in Sylhet. It is located in the Lamabazar area of Sylhet city.
In 1892, Murari Chand College, the oldest higher education institution in the Sylhet region, was established. Forty-eight years later, on January 26, 1940, Madan Mohan College, a higher educational institution with the opportunity to study in the commerce stream, was established in the Lamabazar area of Sylhet city.
Mohinimohan Das (1889-1944 AD) and Yogendra Mohan Das (1894-1986 AD) established the college in the memory of their father Madan Mohan Das (1856-1925 AD). They established the college on 3.37 acres of land donated by them at Lamabazar in Sylhet. On August 12, 2018, almost 78 years after its establishment, the college was made official in the light of the ‘Government College Teachers and Employees’ Assimilation Rules-2018′. [1] At present, the college is playing an important role in the field of education in the region with the adaptation of The National University of Bangladesh.
