The college was established in 1995 as a higher secondary college, while the B.A. (Pass) course was opened in 2002. On May 25, 1995, the college was first inducted into the MPO.
Prior to the establishment of this college, there was no college for higher education in Amtoli, Barguna, Khepupara and Galachipa police stations except Patuakhali College located in the district headquarters of the then Greater Patuakhali. In order to promote higher education, the first and traditional Amtali Government College of Barguna district took the initiative to establish a college in Amtali police station headquarters of alhaji Mofiz Uddin Talukdar, a prominent social worker, educator and a member of the all-respected former provincial council of the area.
