UGC issues public notice on 18 private universities ১৮ বেসরকারি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বিষয়ে গণবিজ্ঞপ্তি জারি ইউজিসি.The University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh issued a public notice on Thursday (January 19) about the steps taken regarding 18 private universities that have expired the temporary certificate and failed to shift all activities to the permanent campus within the stipulated time frame.

It has been mentioned in the public notice that in view of the letter to the Commission, it has been decided to stop the admission of new students in all programs in all the programs of the four private universities of the country as no visible steps have been taken to transfer all activities to the permanent campus within the stipulated time frame and to build the campus. According to the decision, the admission of new students to all programs will be completely closed until the educational activities are shifted to the permanent campuses of Prime Asia University, Stamford University Bangladesh, Asha University, and Victoria University.

Except for the permanent campuses of the State University and Manarat International University, the admission of new students on the temporary campus will be completely closed. However, the programs conducted on the permanent campuses of these two universities will continue as usual.

Dhaka International University, Royal University, Southeast University, City University, The Millennium University and Bangladesh University have been given time till March 31 to shift the entire activities, including educational activities, to the permanent campus.

Considering the visible progress and written commitment on the transfer of the permanent campus and the construction of the campus, BRAC University, University of Development Alternative, Green University, Uttara University, Presidency University and The People’s University have been given time till June 30 to shift the entire activities including educational activities to the permanent campus.

Admission of new students to all programs will be completely stopped from July 1, 2023, in the respective universities if they fail to shift the entire activities including educational activities to the permanent campus within the stipulated time frame. Regarding the steps taken, the public notice said that on April 11, the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh issued a directive to shift the universities which have expired the temporary certificate and have not been shifted to the permanent campus to the permanent campus by December 31. In the letter, it was said that if the universities fail to shift to the permanent campus by December 31, new students will be admitted from January 1.
