Khulna University has 309 vacant seats

Khulna University has 309 vacant seats. The admission process for the 2021-22 session of Khulna University (KU) is nearing its end. It was not possible to fill all the seats even after publishing the seventh merit list in the admission process. Students have been admitted to about 800 seats a total of 1,109 seats till the seventh merit of the university. As a result, 309 seats are vacant so far. This information has been reported from the university admission committee sources.

According to the university’s admission notice, out of the 1109 seats this year, there are 709 seats for the science department, 169 seats for the humanities department, and 120 seats for the business education department. The remaining 111 seats are for everyone. At the end of the seventh merit list, it is not possible to know how many seats are vacant in which unit out of the 200 vacant seats.

Meanwhile, according to the High Court’s directive, the admission process for the first year of the 2021-22 academic year of the university, which is clustered from the 8th merit list, has been postponed.

Three students filed a writ petition challenging the legality of the December 19 and 24 notifications regarding the closure of migration activities in the sixth and seventh phases of the admission process on a bunch basis. They are Rubel Mia, Shakib Ahmed, and Alvi. In their case, the decision to stop migration activities has been postponed.

The rule also sought to know why instructions should not be given to admitting the students in the first year (2021-22) on the basis of the merit list published by the concerned universities according to the primary admission policy and circular (first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth stages). Twenty-three defendants, including the education secretary, vice-chancellors, and registrars of cluster universities, have been asked to respond to the rule within 10 days.

Professor ARM Mostafizar Rahman, a teacher of the English discipline at the university, said that there has been a considerable shortage in the admission process at Khulna University after going to the cluster. At the same time, the university’s past reputation has also been damaged. As the vacant seats have not yet been filled, there is a possibility of the first-year classes starting late.

University Registrar (acting) Professor Khan Golam Kuddus said, “It is difficult to adapt due to the cluster system. However, this problem will be solved quickly. In this case, like the last time, the first-year class examination will continue with the other year according to the academic calendar. There is no possibility of any kind of session.
