Primary schools are getting money from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education. 2,210 government primary schools in the country will be given Tk 2 lakh each. With this money, the schools have been asked to complete minor repairs. This money has been allocated under the Fourth Primary Education Development Program.
Recently, the list of schools allocated by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has been published. It is learned that this repair work has to be completed through the school managing committee. Before starting the work, the upazila engineer must prepare the estimate of the repair work and complete the repair work with the approval of the upazila education committee. In this regard, the upazila education officer, assistant upazila education officer, and upazila engineer (LGED) will provide necessary assistance to the headmaster and SMC of the school.
With the allocated money, damaged plaster repair of school buildings, wash blocks and toilets, doors, windows, benches, chairs, collapsible gates, roof ceilings/lining repairs, building walls, columns, beams and roof cracks, school building doors, window coloring, tiles (if any), stair railings, school gates and drainage system repairs, blackboard plastering and dyeing, toilet pipes, drains, etc. Repair of tubewell platform and replacement of tubewell parts, repair of the electrical system (switch, wiring, fan, etc.) of the school building, filling the soil in the school ground, any repair for the sake of the safety of the school building, as well as other repairs based on the demand of the school can be done.
In a notification, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education said that all the activities that will be taken for the repair will have to be photographed / video before repair and after the repair, the photo/video will have to be kept and stored by registering. The managing committee of the school will prepare a list of the areas in which the school has spent the repair money and submit it to the Upazila Education Officer through the head teacher.
The Upazila Education Officer will collect the list of repairs of the allotted schools and send it to the Upazila Engineer (LGED) for preparation of the estimate proposal together. The estimated proposal will be prepared by the Upazila Engineer (LGED) and sent to the Upazila Education Officer. The upazila education officer will have to take necessary measures to approve the estimate proposal in the metropolitan/upazila primary education committee and take further action.
